Devils Lake Daycare Case: Judge Orders GPS Monitoring
DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (northwestmnnow.com) — A Ramsey County judge has ordered GPS monitoring for a Devils Lake daycare volunteer facing nine felony charges.
Braxton Strande, 17, appeared in court October 6, 2026, following charges filed in September.
Prosecutors accuse Strande of sexually abusing several children while volunteering at Little Goslings Daycare near Devils Lake.
Strande is charged as an adult in Ramsey County District Court. He remains presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Judge Orders GPS Monitoring and Travel Restrictions
The judge ordered Strande to wear an electronic GPS monitoring device through the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.
Strande must pay the costs associated with the monitoring system.
Under the court’s conditions, Strande cannot leave Devils Lake except to meet with his attorney in Grand Forks.
He must also remain at least 500 feet away from daycare centers and elementary schools.
Strande is required to maintain contact with his attorney and follow all other court orders.
Prosecutors requested the restrictions because of concerns about community safety and protecting children.
Bond Set at $5,000
The judge set Strande’s bond at $5,000 on a personal recognizance basis.
This arrangement allows Strande to remain out of custody without paying the full bond amount upfront.
However, the bond may become payable if he fails to appear in court or violates certain conditions.
The court also kept existing no-contact orders in place to protect the children involved in the case.
Nine Felony Charges Filed in Ramsey County
Strande faces nine felony counts stemming from the investigation into alleged abuse involving multiple children.
The charges include continuous sexual abuse of a child and several counts of gross sexual imposition.
He also faces charges of child abuse and witness tampering.
Authorities began investigating allegations involving Little Goslings Daycare earlier this year.
The charges were announced in September following the investigation.
The allegations have not been proven in court. Strande has the right to challenge the evidence presented against him.
Next Court Hearing Scheduled for November 4
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 3 p.m.
The hearing will allow the court to review the case and determine whether sufficient evidence supports further proceedings.
Attorneys have several weeks to review additional evidence before that hearing.
Further details about the bond decision were reported by The Devil’s Lake Daily Journal.
Additional information about court proceedings is available through the North Dakota Court System.
