Becker County Missing Woman: $10,000 Reward Offered
BECKER COUNTY, Minn. (northwestmnnow.com) — Authorities are renewing their appeal for information about a Minnesota woman who disappeared 12 years ago.
Melissa Dawn “Mitzi” Eagleshield has been missing since October 5, 2014, after leaving a friend’s home near Island Lake.
Her disappearance remains unsolved, and investigators hope a reward of up to $10,000 will encourage someone to come forward.
Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander issued another public appeal this week, asking anyone with information to contact authorities.
What Happened to Melissa Eagleshield?
Eagleshield was 42 years old when she disappeared from a rural home near Island Lake in Becker County.
The location was near County Road 126, roughly 15 miles northwest of Detroit Lakes.
Earlier reports indicate Eagleshield left personal belongings at the residence before disappearing.
Search teams previously examined the surrounding area using emergency personnel, search dogs, aircraft, and other resources.
Despite those efforts, investigators have not determined what happened to her.
The case remains open, and authorities continue seeking information about her disappearance.
Reward of Up to $10,000 Available
Minnesota’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office has included Eagleshield’s case in its reward program.
Under the program, qualifying information could lead to a reward of up to $10,000.
The amount depends on how the information helps investigators advance or resolve the case.
Officials are encouraging people to report information even if it appears minor or unrelated.
The official Minnesota reward flyer includes Eagleshield’s description and information about submitting tips.
Sheriff Renews Appeal After 12 Years
Sheriff Todd Glander says investigators remain committed to finding answers for Eagleshield’s family.
He also recognized other missing people and the families who continue searching for their loved ones.
Glander acknowledged the uncertainty families face when a disappearance remains unresolved for years.
The renewed appeal emphasizes that even a small piece of information could help investigators.
Authorities have not announced a resolution or identified what happened to Eagleshield.
